Kaupapa Māori Tamariki/Rangatahi


Child and Youth Services

We provide a wide range of mental health services to children and adolescents from four years old to 18 years of age, which is inclusive of whānau, across the Western Bay of Plenty.

We work in a collaborative way with kura kaupapa schools, colleges and high schools, alternative schools, primary schools, intermediate schools, individuals and their whānau, hapu and Iwi, government and non-government organisations.

Our trained staff will see tamariki and rangatahi at our premises, 134 Fraser Street Tauranga, schools, homes or other designated venues.

Our cultural services are professional, confidential and at no cost to whānau.

What we provide:

  • Cultural and clinical assessments
  • Clinical case management
  • Cultural input
  • Counselling and therapy
  • Access to psychiatric services
  • Rangatahi group work (as/when need identified)
  • Working with individuals and whānau on their goals and plans
  • Suicide education and prevention plan strategies and support
  • Anger management education and strategies

Access Criteria for Referrals to the Service:

  • Behavioural issues
  • Major depression/grief
  • ADHD
  • Suicide thoughts or attempts
  • Self-harm
  • Psychosis
  • Access to help for issues of Mate Māori

Referrals can be made by:

  • Self/whānau/family
  • Schools
  • General practitioners
  • Hauora providers
  • Pediatricians
  • Government organisations
  • Non-government organisations
